Percht

Àrnica : Viejo Mundo (SP,2010)***
Like Sturmpercht and a few other bands Arnica has an interest in the mountain folk, in this case from Pyrenees nature referring to the older cultures, referring to them with heathen songs and battle songs presented like a dark soundtrack with songs telling the stories. Unlike the Alpine bands the tension of war and darkness (with haunting pipes and drums and shouting bass vocals) in the end becomes demanding, reminding me how it was that the Spanish who destroyed Flanders culture when they were in their highlighting period and where they killed nearly all intellectual and creative important person like primitive bandits of war, I can’t help it to think what is the purpose of this war heart if it leads to such sorts of cultivation of darkness and drama, while for the Austrians the night shade songs had totally different purposes. The lyrics of the songs are in Spanish and Catalan (the language of the area of Catalonia; until today this mountain area has preserved different cultures and languages).
With Dani Arnica : voice and lyrics, guitar, bagpipes, percussion, accordion, horn ; Saul Arnica : lyric voice, accordion, percussion, horn ; Carles Arnica : voice and lyrics, flutes, percussion, mouth harp, horn ; Peter : old man's voice ; Raul Guerrero : bagpipes with Dimo Dimov (Svarrogh), Max Perchta (Sturmpercht) and Andrew King (Sol Invictus).
