Indies Rec.   Budoár Staré Dámy : My O Vlku (CZ,2005)***°

Listeners of any foreign music with songs, like Czech music to foreigners, such listeners can only listen to the stylistic strength in music whenever songs matter. For most Czech albums listed on these Webpages these items have that kind of expressive strength very independent from words, making these albums highly enjoyable for anyone. Also this album, which is song orientated has such a strong, folkrock/rock-with-violin accompaniment, and an expressive voice it doesn’t matter that we don’t understand what has been sung. The arrangements are very strong, where each instrument moves in various directions, and the rhythms and melodies change like a monster in a cave looking for comfort. Recommended.

Indies                 Budoár Staré Dámy : Dobrou Noc, Svetlo (CZ,2008)****

Budoár Staré Dámy sounds like a powerful female vocals driven alternative rock band song music which includes just a few heavier touches in the approach of the electric guitars (while still using them for intelligent compositions with an awareness of “classical” composition ideas and breaks, -guitar arrangements like that are called progressive-), with inclusion of electric violin arrangements, like before, and with interestingly layered musical themes in the arrangements and like I said, some logical intelligent breaks. This is intelligent rock music which is a pleasure to listen to, thanks to the great arrangements, with essential but still melodically rich details, the skills of each contributor, the fluent rock drive and attractive female vocals. Some guest appearances added a few more arrangements on clarinet, harmonica, and such.
