Little Mermaid Rec. Caballos Y Entusiasmo : Hidropony (ARG,2010)***°

Since recently Salvador Cresta has added an extra musician, his girlfriend. With her the ideas expanded to something more serious or perhaps not. There's more in charge than creative fire-lighting ideas of fun in kitchen, bed room or dining room. The ideas are expanded to studio-like settings, so I wonder what would happen in a few days in a real studio. Obviously there's the same amount of pleasure in the making, and all the splendour of instant invention in arrangements. Often we hear dual acoustic guitars, dual vocal overdubs harmonies, overdubs with piano like toy piano and other keyboards. New are a few “group” project additions, sounding like a full choir (the girl?), communal psych madness (an educational group turning educationally berserk during a break?), strange harmonies, gamelan with spoons on glasses and similar odd ideas, in song format mostly, here and there with an event, a story. Like every album by Salvador : very good !! They're planning a European tour and will bring their home recorded audio and video material with them.

private Caballos Y Entusiasmo : Hidromiel (ARG,2011)***'/***°

I was hoping Salvador Cresta didn’t lose any of his spontaneity in making so many more albums in such a short time. This is an album full of small songs, between 1 and 4 minutes long, it has something more serious but with the creative mind committed to it. It has good acoustic picking ideas, mixed with odd simple and subtle sound-sensitive percussion, the always beautiful vocal harmonies or overdubs in the singing, nice whistling ideas with overdubs too if necessary, and some odd electric piano.  I heard much more detail of creativity when separating the tracks. Yes, this is a nice one too. A shame I don’t understand a word.

I was told that track 6,"New Blueberry Song", is a cover from Kurt Weisman’s last album, “Orange”.

Salvador Cresta : “We don’t like cities, so we try to live always on lonely places, so our live shows are always for plants and dogs. At the time we lived in the mountains we went to record this album with our old notebook at this old friend’s house (from Fabito Andrade). He plays keyboards on the last track, "La Luz de Fabito".
The Hidropony and Hidromiel (and Hidrofobia) albums are composed by songs that we sent each other by mail, on hand-painted cd’s, with letters (and Video-Letters) and hairs and drawings.
