Cloaks and Feathers : The Mandala Trilogy (B,2010)****
On “Bird on the Road” I hear the well convincing voice of singer Runa L. accompanied on guitar by David C., singing the song like a hippie poet dream catcher, singing her native Indian-alike dream dreams with the right emotions in her voice, with a comparable commitment in her singing to what Buffy Saint-Marie once did but then with different and more directly penetrating towards the world with its lyrics. On”Your Poetry” it is the guitar part which gets a somewhat larger passage. On “House Of Beth” (with some additional rain pipe) Runa's voice is arranged with some nice overdubs. Also this song is deeper into a visualisation into one chakra of the mind. Very nice! Cloaks and Feathers has shared stage with Sons Of Noel and Adrian who seem to have played in Ghent more than once without my knowing.
This three track EP is the first part of The Mandala Trilogy. I look forward to hear all three, and not to miss a gig like the one I have mentioned next time.
