Dredd Foole & Ed Yazijian : That Lonesome Road Between Hurt And Soul (US,2009)**'
Dred Foole (Dan Ireton) is known for his cooperation with Mission Of Burma in the early eighties, did at least two records as Dredd Foole and the Din three and three more solo records, and had various guest appearances (on Cul De Sac, Joshua,..), has cooperated live with people like Matt Valentine, Sunburned Hand of the Man, which shows already a direction. Clearly with a post-80s-vibe of early punkrock love goes acoustic now, this grown new project remains improvised song music which is performed with violinist and steel guitarist Ed Yazijian (Dr.E'weerd Yijji) (also as Six Ways to Avoid the Evil Eye). Hanging between apocalyptic neofolk (strummed guitars, oscillating violin), Nick Cave’s depressions and a cover piece of Tim Buckley, with moody emotions this hangs between depression and stronger emotionality and moodiness, stretching a small handful of ideas with hypnotic repetitions, limited but effective.
