CD (2011)

Lo Rec.           Gablé : Cute Horse Cut (F,2011)****'

Incredible how much change is happening in this album, in clapping hands laptop arranged speed, the track or songs themselves are attractive and accessible, the arrangements colourful from start to finish, with use of acoustic and electric guitars, faster than strummed rhythms, a few occasional electronic details and playful acoustic and some occasional environmental collages, duo and trio harmonies in singing, with many surprising breaks and returns, making a feast and pleasure to the senses. One of the many surprises you can hear for instance on “Opposite party” where we hear a short but brilliant 40's styled acapella gospel arrangement. The songs often have something very Oxford-English but the band is French. Difficult to define their style in between a lot of known styles of attraction (including of course laptopfolk, altrock, and so on). Some of the arrangements are very chamber-like, but of course like said before, are never easy to define. Highly recommended repeated listen.
