Handgjort (S,1970,re.2010)****-
You had to be quick to get a copy of this limited release, but I think it was worth the effort trying. Like the original LP, all cds had a hand drawn cover. Mine wasn't too special. But accidentally it had a Volkswagen image which I always considered a symbol of my last name (VW), so in the end I got a suitable personalised copy. The music sounds like a mixture of Magic Carpet, elements of Hälgarnas Trädgärd and an instrumental version of Chris Thompson sitar tracks with however songs as well (the booklet makes a comparison link to Flute & Voice, but Hangjort is with many more instruments, more direction Donovan than these Germans). The music with a fundament of two sitars, acoustic guitars and tabla/congas and some string elements is very trippy and atmospheric. Also the additional improvisations are convincing. Only as soon as the 10th track des out in loose fragmented improvisation, the last three tracks lose concentration, the tight melted-into-onenness inspiration and might have better better left out.
Also included is an impressive mini-book with a background story, explanaitions of the bands diverse musical backgrounds, and the art work of some of the albums. All-in all : recommended.
