Chapter Music Laura Jean : A Fool who'll (AU,2011)***°
This is the third album already by this Australian singer-songwriter Laura Jean. Her guitar is more often just electrified acoustic, often strummed and not too complicated. Her voice has a nice emotionality but this time with a more electric core, she’s rocking more as if the inner melancholy becomes more a pop ability aggression, with melodies on the edge of the pop/rock predictability, while she has her own individuality to it to offer. Additional arrangements include sax, two tracks with a nicely fitting string arrangement, a basic rock band, some organ, violin and other occasional appearances of arrangements. A few overdubs were done with her voice, once with lots of voices (6), another time with breathy vocals (7). Conclusively it is undeniable the emotionality in her vocal range and vibrations of her voice makes her singing attractive. The lyrics to it are a somewhat poetic approach of personal stories fitted for song projections.
