LP (2007)

private   Maailma : Noitalauluja -radio version on cdr of LP- (S/FIN,2007)***°

The band has sent me a radio version of their now sold-out LP to check out, not sure how much difference there really is between them. Maailma is a free folk ensemble building up an improvisation with one fundament of a rhythmical collage of colourful plucks, like a prepaired and recreated idea of a slowed down thumbpiano but then into a full ensemble sound : combinations of plucked rhythms with different colours and from different instruments, with a result and totality that has a certain weirdiness in harmony because there are at least some loosely tuned strings involved, but a beauty too for its nicely evolving combinations during a rather minimal evolution. This with a few more texturing ideas is combined with another layer of some layers with whispery humming and Finnish whispery-to-humming-like vocals, by Lau Nau and Vinter members. Just sometimes this lead voice is slightly radio-voice-like. Besides this there is also at least some keyboard use involved, and an occasional noise/drone idea. -Just imagine a combination of the talents of Lau Na with Vinter, and you know already what to expect.-

Maailma is Laura Naukkarinen (from Lau Nau) and Kristian Holmgren & Matti Bye (from Vinter). LP was 133 copies only, and is sold out by now.
