Ned Collette : Future Suture -LP/CD- (AUS,2006)****'
Luckily, just now and then people recommend albums to me. In this case my radio colleague Patrick said I should not have missed Ned Colette (which he himself discovered via via 'Roommate'). The least I need to do now is to mention the album already on my pages, even before I have it myself. Not only does the front covers look like they belong to the seventies, the music could have been from then as well. I had to read and check out carefully before I knew it wasn’t. Yes, such sound is hardly used, even when it should be obvious to dedicate this sort of real-time effort without the trickery interests of persuing a studio produced perfection. I can’t tell you much about the songs yet, but all of the arranged layers luckily confirm the strength of the production sound as well as they suit the songs best, with strong and dynamic progressions, by using multi-layered acoustic guitars, electric bass, with analogue keyboards with drums and backing vocals, or with some string arrangements, or trumpet or with electric guitars, like on the last track. Recommended.
