Singer/Songwriters presents :
Sally Murray

M-CDR (2008)

Timbreland Rec.Sally Murray : Battle Ground -EP-(UK,2008)**'

This official picture disk cdr looking like a real cd is like a carefully produced demo (with the help of Raz Ullah from Timbreland, I guess on occasional electronic –moog- drone on one track and on drums on another, and some occasional studio effects). On the intro she experiments a bit with harmony vocals, a folk-gospel acapella style, with some reverb effect in the ending mixed into the performance. The songs are accompanied by acoustic/electric guitar, have moments of intuitively building up tensions, are not so clear what they are all about as ballads suitable for a comfortable setting to listen quietly to, and to snooze on the gloominess of this, like so many people like to do, on live gigs, but then remain to life on a low, and only slightly warmed up atmosphere of mainstream life. She has a slightly restrained singing with a heavy smoked breathing. It is just nice, and that is the most I can say. It is only sad that the amateurish front cover turns the well recorded starting point much more into a demo session idea than it should be.
