the acoustic neo-folk of
Seelenthron

CD (2008)

Heimatfolk   Seelenthron : Wege (=ways/paths) (D,2008)****

This is the second full time album of this duo, consisting of Alexander Meier and Norbert Strahl (voice) with the help of Max Pech on guitar and Susan Schulze on vocals. The albums sounds very focused like a conceptual album, which is deeply rooted in an awareness of a sad existence, while lining out paths or ways towards the light and true and powerful hopefulness. The instrumentation also makes out clear lines, while one fundament, the dark sad gothic keyboards and even small memories of martial drum fundaments, and any marks of communal traumas are uplifted with and sometimes left out in parts for light melodious crafted guitar work arrangements, and neo-classical & flute touches and emotional piano, making richer full contrasts, nice vocal harmonies, with transforming and increasing energy in the singing and the arrangements, with increasing power and convincing, revealing a sympathetic, captivating belief in a better world (just “Vision” falls back on the sad realization  certain things hardly change through history). An album which becomes better with each listening. (One track is with English lyrics).
