My Kung Fy Rec. Soft Hearted Scientists : Uncanny Tales From the Everyday Undergrowth (UK/WA,2005)****
This is a very strong conceptual acoustic pop / folkpop release, described as a musical voyage in three parts. There's something typically English here too, as a literature foundation background and the perfectly worked out inner expressive structural strength in the musicality, in a folkpop/acoustic mode. The release was previously released in three parts as seperate EP's. The second EP has more indipendent folk leanings and acoustic guitars arrangements. The style of a few tracks goes in the direction of Gorky's Zygotic Minci so in a post-70's feeling, but SHS are much more focused on the tale leading concept of the music, with its own variety and hanging well together. Highly enjoyable.
