Turdus Philomelos : Ici Maintenant Là Pouf! (B,2010)**'
This is the second album from this band after their debut in 2006. The result is rural folk chamber music dominated by accordion and with klezmer-typed arrangements of violin, melodica, sax, bass and drums. The result is light and bombastic at the same time, like being simultaneously melancholic and instrumental cabaret as well. Further we hear light rhythms of reggae in one track, a thickened arrangement of guest appearance of Karim Baggili on oud and one chanson inspiration. For me it remains a bit unclear what all these tunes are being expressed for. They have the lightness of melodic folk and the dark edges of a stage in a theatre without a true meeting point but thickened colours of brown and red.
